When to use this template

  • Getting a second pass on a pull request before asking a teammate
  • Reviewing your own change when you work alone
  • Checking an unfamiliar part of the codebase before you modify it

How to get a useful result

  1. Describe the expected behavior. Without it, the AI can judge style but not correctness.
  2. Paste the diff with enough surrounding code to show how the changed functions are called.
  3. Remove secrets, keys, and customer data before pasting any code into an AI tool.

What this template does—and its limits

The AI only sees what you paste. It cannot run your tests or see the rest of the repository, so treat its findings as leads to verify, not as a replacement for a human review.

First look for logic errors, regressions, security issues, concurrency problems, and edge cases. Then assess readability, architecture, performance, and tests. For each issue, state its severity, location, why it matters, and a concrete fix. Distinguish bugs from style preferences. If you find no significant issue, say so instead of inventing one. Finish with strengths and the highest-priority tests to add.
